Face Masks are required for the safety of all guests and animals. Children under the age of 8 years old are not required to wear a mask though we strongly encourage any guests over 2 years old to wear a mask if possible.

Zoo guests who have been permitted to enter the Zoo without a mask for one of the State-approved exceptions listed below will be given a wristband distributed from the Information Booth to identify them while on property.

Exceptions - A guest can be excused from wearing a face covering if they are:

  • A child under the age of 8 (although face coverings are strongly recommended for children ages 2- 7)
  • An individual with a medical condition that prevents the wearing of a face covering (difficulty breathing, etc)
  • An individual communicating with someone who is hearing impaired
  • Individuals who are eating and/or drinking
  • Individuals giving a speech for broadcast or to an audience
  • Individuals temporarily removing their face covering for identification purposes

Find further face covering guidance here.

We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before your scheduled entry time and having each ticket available to be scanned upon arrival. Each guest in your party aged 2 and over should have a ticket for entrance.

Am I allowed to bring in food and/or beverages?
Outside food and drinks are allowed into the Zoo. Suitcases, backpacks, or coolers (with or without wheels) must not be larger than 28-quart size. One per family. Audubon reserves the right to search coolers and backpacks. Halloween-themed food and beverages, including child-friendly and adult-friendly, will also be available for purchase.

Before You Arrive

  • The safety of our guests, staff, volunteers, and animals is our top priority. All guests must purchase tickets in advance online for a specific date and entry time; Audubon Members must reserve their complimentary tickets online in advance as well. Entry times are offered every 30 minutes, with the last entry at 4:00 p.m. There is a limit to the number of tickets sold for each entry time and time slots may sell out. so we encourage you to get your tickets in advance. We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before your scheduled entry time and having each ticket available to be scanned upon arrival. Each guest in your party aged 2 and over should have a ticket for entrance. Peek-a-Boo at the Zoo will be held rain or shine.

Parking

  • Parking is available in front of the Zoo, on Magazine Street (both sides), and on the Audubon Park Riverview. To protect the trees in front of the Zoo and ensure that you will be able to safely exit your parking place, please follow all posted parking guidelines/barriers and parking instructions from Zoo security staff.

About the Experience

  • This year, the activities have been adjusted to ensure all safety guidelines as directed by the State of Louisiana are met. Although Peek-a-Boo at the Zoo won’t look like the traditional Boo at the Zoo event, we look forward to providing our community with a safe environment to celebrate Halloween. The Zoo is no longer a one-way flow. However, the Louisiana Swamp will be a one-way flow only for the two weekends of Peek-A-Boo at the Zoo.  Guests are encouraged to socially distance and guests over the age of 8 are required to wear masks at all times inside Audubon Zoo  (guests over the age of 2 and under 8 are encouraged to wear face masks as able). Guests who have been permitted to enter the Zoo without a mask for one of the State-sanctioned reasons will be given a wristband upon entry.
